Merton Council's proposed new dog control orders
Merton Council are currently consulting residents via an online survey available through their website on proposed new dog control orders, this consultation finishes on the 2nd November so be quick. These new orders include; Dogs to be kept on a lead at all times in small areas of public land and open spaces of less than half a hectare- this is about the size of a football pitch. Also all dogs must be put on a lead when directed by an authorised officer?. They also want want to restrict the number of dogs walked by anyone person to four dogs. These bye-laws are to address the problem of dangerous and out of control dogs in the borough apparently. If anyone is interested there is an online petition running at the moment to object to these proposals. We think that anyone who lives, studies or works in Merton should be able to enjoy all the boroughs open spaces in return for responsible dog ownership.Once again the responsible dog owners and walkers will be targeted as we are the ones who control our dogs and clean up after them. We would like Merton to reconsider these proposals and extend the number of dogs walked to six also a proper licensing system and code of conduct should be introduced. If you would like to sign this petition here is the linkhttp://petitions.merton.gov.uk/epetition_core/community/petition/43Thank you
