Putney Bridge Closed After Bus Crash


Driver hospitalised after collision with car

Putney Bridge has been closed this morning (7th July) after a bus was in collision with a car and then hit the structure of the bridge. The 424 bus crashed through the wall of the bridge which is due to be closed in a week's time for repairs.

The incident occurred at around 10.30am. The emergency services including the Marine Policing Unit and the Marine Costal Agency were quickly on the scene.

A male bus driver received minor injuries and has been taken to a central London hospital as a precaution. A car was also involved in the collision. The female driver received minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Enquires are ongoing into the circumstances of the incident.

Putney Bridge was closed to all traffic with the exception of emergency vehicles, TFL buses and taxis. The Bridge has now reopened.
