South West Trains (SWT) said that they expect all lines to be back to a scheduled service today (6 May).

Trains to and from Waterloo had been severely disrupted following a major fire on Thursdat at Vauxhall station.

A spokesperson for SWT said, "Our team worked hard throughout the day to ensure that as many of our services as possible ran, and made decisions to ensure that our services can operate normally from this morning, Friday 6th May.

"To help keep customers moving, we quickly arranged for Great Western Railway, Southern Trains, Thameslink, London Underground, London Overground, London Buses and local buses, to accept your tickets, working together to get you where you needed to go.

"We understand how frustrating it is when your train service doesn’t run as it should."

The fire took hold at around 3am burning through the wooden parts of the track and platform and destroying cabling meaning that at one point 5 out of the 8 lines into Waterloo were out of action.

Tickets purchased to travel yesterday will be valid today.
