A free talk to celebrate bicentenary of Wimbledon Windmill

Talk by Mildred Cookson - Vice-chairman of the Wind and Watermills section of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).

It takes place at London and Scottish Golf Club House, Windmill Road, Wimbledon, SW19 5NQ, on Saturday May 13 at 2pm.

The free illustrated talk will describe the types of English windmill and their development from the earliest ones to the final working mill.

After a break for coffee, Mildred will summarise the history of Wimbledon Common's own Hollow Post Mill. The afternoon will end with questions at 4pm. A small selection of mill books will be available for sale.

Mildred was a miller at Mapledurham Watermill for 30 years and has been involved in mills and milling since she was 15 years old.
