Following on from the success of 2013, Brentford FC CST in partnership with ISIS Waterside Regeneration, Syon Park and The Canal & River Trust have announced The ISIS Challenge 2014.

ISIS Challenge 2014

What is the ISIS Challenge?
The ISIS Challenge is a community sports activity day aimed at participants of all ages and abilities. The events are designed to be inclusive whilst also offering a challenge for both the beginner and more experienced competitor.

Following the same format as 2013, this year’s challenge sees the paddleboarding time-trial take place at Brentford Lock whilst the 1km and 5km runs take place in the grounds of Syon Park. To compliment the day’s activities we will also be hosting our youth football tournament* and the free to enter family funday.

So what is paddleboarding?
Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is one of the fastest growing adventure sports. The basics are not difficult to learn and with coaching, people can stand up and paddle relatively quickly. SUP is a sport that can be enjoyed by individuals, groups and families. Larger boards can enable parents to take a small child on board safely whilst older children can paddle their own board and there are no upper age constraints - meaning active grandparents can take part too!

Do not worry if you have never tried paddleboarding as we will be providing basic event day tuition* for all participants.

What about the 1km and 5km runs?
Participants of any age can take part in either run however the 1k run is aimed primarily at youngsters or families whilst the 5km is for the more competitive runner.

Both the runs take place in the stunning grounds of Syon Park with part of the route making its way through the private gardens that are closed to the public. The routes are a mixture of trail, path and parkland and though a suitable pair of running shoes should be worn there are no stretches that would be deemed too technical or difficult for a novice runner – the only real test is how fast you can run it in!

Categories:
Participants in all events/age groups will receive a timing chip. Upon completion each participant will receive an ISIS Challenge memento. Trophies will be awarded to the winners in each category with the awards ceremony forming the finale on the main stage at the end of the day.

Each event is divided into 2 categories - Adult (17+) and Junior (16 & under). Trophies will be awarded separately for adult/junior male and female participants.
