Have Your Say on Proposed Congestion Charge Increases

Fifteen percent rise "in line with public transport fares"

Londoners are being asked for their views on proposed increases to the Congestion Charge.

Transport for London is consulting about increasing the charge to £14 if paid the day after a driver enters the zone, £11.50 if paid in advance or on the day and £10.50 if paid using CC Auto Pay.

The current charges are £12 if paid the next day, £10 in advance or on the day and £9 via Auto Pay.

TfL claims the increases of around 15% are necessary to ensure the charge remains “relative deterrent effect of the charge in line with inflation and in comparison with other transport costs and public transport fares, which have increased over time”.

In addition to the increases, views are being sought on plans to introduce automatic refunds for NHS patients and staff

The Mayor will make a final decision on whether to increase the charges following a public consultation.

Londoners have until Friday 14 March 2014 to respond to the consultation. For more information visit: www.tfl.gov.uk/ccyourviews
