Join The Annual RHN Fun Run

Takes place on Wimbledon Common on July 12

Disability charity, the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) is looking for runners to take part in the second edition of the now annual RHN Fun Run which will take place on Wimbledon Common on Saturday July 12.

Last year saw more than 200 runners competing over 5km and 10km distances raising £25,000 in the first ever RHN Fun Run.

To ensure that this year is even bigger, the RHN have added the 15km distance for those runners looking to truly test their physical mettle.

With the Mayor of Wandsworth as a special guest, post-race snacks being provided by street-food favourites Original Fry-up Material and a Gelato Italia ice cream van as well as the local fire engine rumoured to be making an appearance, the family-friendly event will bring together the local community for what promises to be a festival of fun in support of one of its oldest charities.

Community & Events Executive, Shaun Murphy, said: "After the success of last year's event we’re really excited for this year’s Fun Run, which promises to be even bigger and better. I’d really encourage runners, or even walkers, of all abilities and ages to get involved. With the 5km, 10km, and 15km distances on offer, there really is something for everyone . And while Wombles fancy dress is optional, the location of the run means that we do strongly encourage it!"

Mayor of Wandsworth, Stuart Thom will be seeing the runners off at the start of race. During his mayoral year, Councillor Thom has pledged to support organisations and charities helping vulnerable and disabled people and is keen to help the RHN raise as much money as possible to fund its vital work.

All of the money raised by the RHN Fun Run will go towards providing life changing support and care for people living with severe neurological disability as a result of long term neurological conditions, illness or brain injury.

The RHN suggests a sponsorship of £30 per runner whilst registration fees are £7.50 for the 5km distance, £10 for the 10km and £20 for the 20km. Children under-16 can register for free by using the 'Under-16' promotion code upon registration. Each runner will receive a medal upon completion and will have their time accuratelyrecorded by chip-timer.
