Mum's Firm In Line For Business Award

Merton Business Awards for 2012

Wimbledon mother Cath Harrop, who organises pop-up markets of second-hand baby and children's goods, is among those nominated for the 2012 Merton Business Awards.

Cath runs Mum2mum market, which brings mothers with outgrown children's stuff together with new and expectant mums.

She came up with the idea on a wet and windy holiday in Cornwall. She said: "I had bought and sold second-hand goods for my children on ebay, Gumtree, classified ads and boot sales and been frustrated by the hassle and high fees of selling and the disappointment of poor quality items and escalating postage charges as a buyer.

"I was sure there had to be a better way and with my knowledge of buying and selling second hand I was the ideal person to do it."

Mum2mum market is a finalist in the 'Best New Business', 'Best Commitment to the community' and 'Entrepreneur of the year' awards. The results will be announced at a gala dinner at the All England Tennis Club on September 26.

The awards have been developed by South London Business, Merton Council and Merton Chamber of Commerce, in order to reward and celebrate the many dynamic and innovative businesses in the borough.
