Sample The Ales At The Hand In Hand

Wimbledon pub's beer tasting night

Wimbledon's Hand in Hand pub will be staging a beer festival, including special beer tasting night, later this month.

The tasting night on Thursday September 23 will be hosted by beer broadcaster and writer, Melissa Cole (left), who will guide drinkers through a range of around 20 beers on offer.

Each drinker will sample around six beers in 1/3rd-pint glasses, and there will also be food 'paired' to match the ale - such as cheeses and small pies.

The evening is free, but the pub is taking a £10 refundable deposit for advance bookings. Guest ales likely to be available include Rudgate Ruby Mild, Young's London Gold, Sharp's Cornish Coaster and St Austell's Proper Job.

The pub in Crooked Billet, by Wimbledon Common, will continue the beer festival until Sunday September 26. It will also include music and the Wimbledon-based Greensleeves Morris Men will be performing on Saturday September 25 at 2pm.
