Wimbledon And Murray Get Set For Tennis Tournament

This year's competition just a week away

As Wimbledon is getting set for the All England Tennis Championships next week, UK number one Andy Murray has been hitting some balls on the SW19 practice courts.

Murray, Marin Cilic and Gael Monfils were all in Wimbledon today as part of their preparations for the tournament.

Perhaps with half a mind on the World Cup now taking place in South Africa, Murray was actually pictured (right) kicking a tennis ball around as he warmed up.

Their practice was taking place as the final work, such as the installation of the giant TV screen, were being completed at the All England Club. Meanwhile the first day of Wimbledon qualifying was taking place at the Bank of England Sports Ground at Roehampton.

And tennis-playing children from Merton be gracing the courts at this year's Championships. The members of the Wimbledon Youth Tennis Initiative, which offers free coaching to some youngsters in the borough, will play on the middle Saturday and final Sunday.

The children will do demonstrations both days on court 14 for the public, the first alongside Tim Henman.
