Headless body spotted in river at Plough Lane

Police are investigating a headless body found in the River Wandle at Plough Lane, Wimbledon on Monday.

The remains were spotted floating in the river by a passer-by near the new housing development on the old Wimbledon football ground site.

Police divers were called in to recover the remains, which were said to be severely decomposed.

Detectives estimate the body had been in the water for a number of weeks and are now trying to identify the remains.
