An Abundance Of Fruit In Wimbledon!

Local fruit is collected and sold at Abundance Fruit Day

With so much fruit growing around SW19, Ambundance Wimbledon don't like to see it wasted, so they collect it and pass it on.

It's then used to make jam, juice, puddings etc. Some goes to local charities, providing for the homeless and elderly eg, Merton & Morden Guild, the Faith in Action Drop-In Centre in Kingston Road, Wimbledon and Merton Vision in Colliers Wood.

So if there is more fruit in your garden than you are likely to need, then get in touch with them. Last year, Abundance volunteers gathered more than 1,600 kilos of fruit.

To donate your fruit this year, find out more or if you’d like to help, contact abundancewimbledon@gmail.com or ring Joyce 8946 3750/Juliet 8946 2514. You can also visit their website at www.abundancewimbledon.com

Don't forget to come to Abundance Fruit Day when they sell the fruits of their labours!

It's on Saturday September 19, 11am – 2pm at St Mark's Church garden (behind Wimbledon Library).

Buy some homemade jam, chutneys, cakes, ultra-fresh juice from the fruit press, enjoy the music and games. Entry is free.
