On Your Marks For The AFC Wimbledon Minithon

Can you beat Haydon over 5km?

The AFC Wimbledon Minithon will return on Sunday April 19 with people of all ages and abilities welcome to enter the fun event.

Organised by the Dons Trust fundraising group, this year's event will take place at Wimbledon Park and it will cover a distance of 5km, without hills to contend with!

Haydon the Womble (right) will be taking on a challenge of a different kind this time around after competing in mascot races over the years and Chief Executive Erik Samuelson will also be taking part.

AFC Wimbledon Sports Scientist Jason Moriarty, a man who puts first-team players through their paces on a daily basis, has vowed to defend his crown after winning the last staging of the event in 2012.

Alongside the Minithon, there will be various activities designed to attract Dons supporters and the local community, including a beat-the-goalie attraction, face painting and other stalls.

Sponsorship proceeds will go to the AFC Wimbledon Foundation, the charity established by the club. The AFC Wimbledon Foundation will apply the proceeds to its Healthy Living Programme, to be operated at the club’s training ground over the summer for supporters and the local community.

There will be an entry fee of £10 (£5 for under 16s and free for 5s and under) to take part in this event. To find out more, email: mark.davis@donstrust.org or you can check the details and download an entry form at: Minithon 2015.
