Dozens of South West London apprenticeships
Young people in Wimbledon are being encouraged to apply for one of 70 apprenticeships available with Remit's IT Academy.
With recent figures showing youth unemployment has risen nearly 900% in 12 years, and another year's worth of school leavers now looking forward to their next steps, the employment market is a minefield for 16 to 18 year olds.
National training provider, Remit, works with nearly 7,000 apprentices across the country and is constantly creating vacancies to help young people get into work.
Remit's IT Academy is one of just four Microsoft accredited training programmes in the country and offers the best in technical and sales qualifications.
All apprentices taken on by Remit will be employed with a south west London company, and paid a wage from day one.
The IT apprenticeship can be completed in twelve months and is a combination of training and experience with an employer coupled with off-the-job training blocks. Once they have completed their training, apprentices will gain qualifications equivalent to A Level.
To apply young people must have GCSE grades C or above in Maths and English, and be aged 16-18. If you have predicted GCSE grades for this year’s exams, this would also be accepted for an initial application.
Remit's Chief Operating Officer, Steve Yardley, said: "We have been running our IT Academy in other parts of the country very successfully. We are not just delivering apprenticeships, we are finding promising career opportunities for young people in this ever-expanding industry.
"These are challenging times for many as UK unemployment still remains high, but for young people it's even more of a challenge. We are doing our best at Remit to not only find employment opportunities, but train our apprentices to the highest standards."
