Blues & Spirituals is a special night where the raw vocals and guitar of blues blends with the soulful harmonies of spiritual music.
Veteran Blues vocal/guitarist Adam Grogdope, rock and Blues drummer Fil Baker, and Wagner Society Award-winning soprano Rejieli Paulo will perform both separately and together in a charitable event in support of the Fiji Red Cross’s relief work in Fiji after the devastation left by Tropical Cyclone Winston’s savage attack on the islands last month.
Striking Fiji as a Category 5 storm on February 20, Winston inflicted extensive damage on many islands and killed 44 people. Nearly 55,000 homes were damaged or destroyed and approximately 350,000 people - 40% of Fiji's population - were significantly impacted by the storm. Total damage is estimated to be in excess of £178.9 million.
Together Adam, Rejieli, Fil and friends promised to get the audience rocking to electric Blues tunes as well as reviving songs first sung as long ago as the 17th century as expressions of faith, forbearance and hope, and of overcoming struggle. All proceeds will be donated to the TC Winston Fiji Red Cross Appeal.
