Fans Launch Bring The Dons Home Campaign

Group aims to see Wimbledon return to Plough Lane

A group of AFC Wimbledon fans have launched their own campaign to get people to support their club's return to the borough of Merton.

The Bring the Dons Home campaign is backing the move to build a stadium on the greyhound stadium site in Plough Lane, Wimbledon.

The campaign was launched at the Wimbledon Winter Wonderland event on Sunday (December 1) and within 24 hours, nearly 3,000 people had visited the site and indicated their support for the plans.

Wimbledon have submitted a bid with Galliard Homes for an 11,000 capacity stadium, with flexibility to extend it to 20,000 capacity, as well as 600 homes, shops and community facilities.

Merton Council has designated the site as suitable for "sporting intensification" and a public inquiry will be held to determine the site's future.

There is a rival bid for the land, featuring a 4,500 capacity greyhound stadium, other sports facilities and apartments.
