Wimbledon Drinkers Meet Local Brewers


By The Horns is in the spotlight

A Meet The Brewer night at Wimbledon Village Club, with a chance to learn more about local brewery By The Horns, was attended by around 60 people.

Each given a half sample of each of the cask ales as well as a taste of three bottle beers. Nibbles and a ploughman's bufffet were also provided at the club in Lingfield Road.

Chris Mills gave an informative talk of the background of the two brewers and the setting up up the brewery in Summerstown, near Plough Lane, while Alex Bull ran through the ingredients used in their beers - samples of which were availabe to try on each table. They were Marris Otter Pale Malt, Chocolate Malt, Crystal Malt and Pioneer Hops.

Bottled beers sampled were: Jolly's Revenge - an Oatmeal Brown beer; Bobby on the Wheat - a Pale Wheat beer; Diamond Geezer - a Red Ale. Cask Ales sampled were: Stiff Upper Lip - a light Pale Ale; Mayor of Garratt - a new London Best Bitter; Lambeth Walk - a Dark Porter.
