Cash Boost For Local Good Causes

Wimbledon customers cast votes on donations

Three local good causes are receiving a share of £1,000 - thanks to the votes of Travis Perkins customers in Wimbledon.

The timber and builders' merchant's On Home Turf initiative has seen 1,000 votes cast over the past month in the branch on Weir Road.

Every time a customer made a purchase, they were given a £1 token to cast their vote for one of three good causes.

The tokens were added up at the end of the month and now the money is set to be handed out.

●      Jil Hall, The Friends of South Park Gardens, said: "We are so pleased that so many tradesmen voted for us at Travis Perkins - we will be using the money towards additional equipment for our new building."

●      Sarah Anton, Workshop 305, said: "We're going to put our funds towards a new pug mill for clay recycling for our pottery workshops. Our students have had great fun in the past with this but unfortunately our old pug mill broke so we are grateful to bring this back with the help of Travis Perkins customers.”

●      Jean-Claire Finnighan, Wimbledon Scouts, added: "Our scout group is in need of some new tents and so our donation will help a great deal towards this - we are so grateful to have been included.”

Stuart Hayler, Manager at Travis Perkins’ Wimbledon branch, commented: "It's been great to see our customers get so involved in our On Home Turf initiative - they have helped to make a real difference in the local area.

"We hope the good causes have enjoyed taking part and we look forward to continuing our relationships on our home turf."
