Celebrate Your Age In Merton

Special festival aimed at the over-50s

This year's Celebrating Age Festival takes place in Merton from September 5-18, with a range of activities aimed at the borough's older residents.

The 2011 Festival, co-ordinated by Age Concern Merton and funded by Merton Council, aims to offer all over-50s in the borough the chance to learn something new and meet new people.

Celebrate Your Age In Merton Organisers have laid on 120 different events, ranging from health, gardening and computer workshops through to dancing, dinners and outings.

Many of the Festival events are free, and some are at cost. They take place in the daytime, evenings and at weekends.

Trips to Margate, Chartwell and Portsmouth Cathedral will have volunteers to help those with mobility problems. If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, contact Sue Tickner on 0208-648-5792 to find out more.

  • Brochures to help you plan your Festival are available now from libraries, the Civic Centre, Age Concern Merton, community centres, guilds and many churches. The booking line opens on Tuesday July 26 on 020 3328 0329 and 0330, and will run Tuesdays to Thursdays 9.30am-3.30pm until Thursday September 1.
