Charity Workout Event In Morden

Raise vital funds

Morden fitness expert and owner of TFW London, Malcolm Taylor, says they are hosting a charity "Warrior Workout" to raise funds for NAITBabies.org on Saturday February 15.

"We are proud to partner with one of our current students to raise funds for this great cause," Malcom said. "We are asking for a minimum donation of £10 to participate in the Warrior workout, with 100% of that money going to NAITBabies.org".

He said www.naitbabies.org is a non-profit organisation that has been created to raise knowledge and awareness of a genetic disorder most people have never heard of, neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia or NAIT.

It is a blood-related disease that can affect fetuses or newborn babies due to human platelet antigen incompatibility. Platelets are a type of blood cell involved in blood clotting. This can cause the mother to produce antibodies in response to certain antigens, (structures that can be recognised as foreign), that the baby has and the mother doesn’t. These antibodies attack the antigens, destroying platelets in the baby who is then at risk of spontaneous bleeding into the brain (ICH), stomach or spinal chord. Babies can be at serious risk of brain damage or death.

The charity workout will be held at 2pm at TFW London, located at Morden Primary School in London Road, SM4 5PX.

For those that are unable to attend the workout but would still like to donate, please visit: http://www.naitbabies.org/donate/

The workout is open to everyone in the community and is suitable for all fitness levels.
