Hollie's Marathon Fund-Raiser

Coast-to-coast walk in just eight days

Fund-raiser Hollie Grant aims to complete the equivalent of eight marathons in just eight days by covering the 190 miles from England's West to East coast.

Hollie (pictured right), aged 24, from Wimbledon, plans to complete the gruelling distance through the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and then the Yorkshire Moors, from May 1-8.

She will be tackling the walk made famous by Alfred Wainwright on her own, but will be joined by friends and family for a day at a time along the way.

Most people tackle the walk in 14 days, not eight. Intrepid Hollie, studio manager at Absolute Pilates, Fulham, has also previously cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End for charity.

This time she aims to raise £5,000 for two charities: The Braveheart Programme, which funds research into the psychological effects of war on soldiers and Worldwide Helpers, which works to set up links between those wanting to volunteer with low or no cost projects around the world.

Hollie said: "Training is going well although the knees may disagree and I would like to thank all the many people who have helped me so far and been so unbelievably supportive."

The map of her route is pictured below:
