Come And Sing Handel's Messiah

Chance to join professional singers

The West Barnes Singers are inviting singers to "Come and Sing Messiah" with professional soloists and orchestra at a special day-long event on Saturday December 3.

The 60-strong choir, which is led by musical director Philip Colin, is hoping to swell its numbers to 100 singers for the one-off performance.

Workshops and rehearsals will start at St Paul's Church, Augustus Road, Wimbledon Park, from 10.30am. The concert is at 7.30pm. The event costs £15. People wishing to attend just the concert pay £10, £8 for concessions and £3 children.

The choir normally performs four concerts at year in Merton, Kingston or Wandsworth, and occasionally further afield.

Their repertoire has included masses by Haydn, Mozart, Pucinni and Rossini, requiems by Brahms, Durufle and Faure, and oratorios by Bach, Janacek, Orff, Poulenc, Rachmaninov and Vivaldi. In a lighter vein, they have sung operattas and opera choruses, as well as jazz classics and songs from shows.
