A 37-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Raynes Park in the early hours of Friday morning (18 November).

He was walking at around 1.45am along Worple Road near the junction with Langham Road when the collision with a Mercedes CLA occurred.

Despite the efforts of paramedics to save him he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene but refused to provide a specimen. He was arrested under suspicion of dangerous driving and driving under influence of drink or drugs.

Worple Road was closed in both directions with buses 57, 131 and N87 diverted.

Detectives from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for witnesses to the collision.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who captured it on CCTV or dash camera.
