Police Seek Witness to Colliers Wood Stabbing

Victim still in hospital over a month after the attack suffering from memory loss

The man pictured is not a suspect and is sought only as a witness

Detectives investigating a stabbing in Colliers Wood have released a CCTV image of a potential witness. The man they wish to trace was in the vicinity at the time of the attack but is not a suspect.

On Friday, 1 September at around 9pm a 25-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds after an altercation on Chaucer Way in Colliers Wood, SW19.

A doctor who happened to be passing by administered first aid, and the victim was taken to a south London hospital where he remains. He suffered head, back and arm injuries, and is suffering from memory loss.

Officers from the Met’s Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating, and detectives have now released a CCTV still, taken from a grocery store in nearby Haydons Road just before the attack. Police believe the man in the image could be a witness - he is not being treated as a suspect.

Detective Constable Andy Thornton, leading the investigation, said: “This was a vicious attack on a young man who faces a long recovery, and long-term rehabilitation. Had it not been for the doctor who came across the victim and gave medical assistance, the consequences could have been even graver.

“We are keen to trace the man pictured close to the scene around the time of the attack and who may have seen what happened, or the aftermath. If this is you, or you recognise this man, we would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Trident on 020 8247 4554 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
