Local people and businesses being encouraged to donate a gift

Merton Giving Launches A Gift For All Christmas Appeal
Gifts will be distributed to those in need in the area

This festive season Merton Giving is partnering with Centre Court Shopping Centre to encourage local people and local businesses to donate a Christmas Gift and help spread some festive cheer.

The Gift For All Christmas Appeal will support local residents who might otherwise not receive a Christmas present and Merton Giving is joining up with local charities to help distribute the donations.

Diana Sterck, chair of Merton Giving said , “We were incredibly moved and thankful for the generosity of our local community last year which enabled us to provide over 400 gifts to vulnerable residents. 2021 has continued to be another challenging year for so many and we’d like to continue to support residents who might not otherwise receive a gift to help make a positive difference.”

Lynsey Coleman, Senior Marketing Manager at Centre Court Shopping Centre added, “Centre Court are very proud to be partnering with Merton Giving this year to continue their Christmas Gift Appeal. If the last two years have taught us anything, it’s the value of coming together to benefit the community including those who may not have the same Christmas experience that we all cherish. We encourage anyone who is able to donate a gift this festive season to someone that won’t otherwise receive one.”

To make a donation first select who you’re buying for. This year Merton Giving is collecting for; adults, including elderly residents (male and female), children (boys and girls) and young teenagers (male and female).

Then place your gift into a gift bag with a gift tag indicating who the gift is intended for. Don’t wrap the gift so it can be viewed to allow a quick check before being gifted.

Drop off to Centre Court Shopping Centre, via their Management Centre or a member of staff. Other donation points will be announced later.

To enable gifts to be distributed in time for Christmas, the last date to donate a gift is Monday 13 December

Value Reading Articles Like This? Help Us Produce More

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

We are therefore asking our readers to consider offering financial support to these efforts. Any money given will help support community and public interest news and the expansion of our coverage in this area.

A suggested monthly payment is £8 but we would be grateful for any amount for instance if you think this site offers the equivalent value of a subscription to a daily printed newspaper you may wish to consider £20 per month. If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.

If you do support us in this way we’d be interested to hear what kind of articles you would like to see more of on the site – send your suggestions to the editor.

For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least two articles a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you’d like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT.
