Car hit a tree in the early hour incident

Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Morden in which a car hit a tree are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called at 2.12am on Tuesday (September 25) to a car in collision with a tree in Bishopsford Road, Morden.

Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade. The driver of the car, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said in a statement: “His next of kin have been informed. Formal identification awaits and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

“Enquiries into the circumstances continue however at this early stage, it is not believed anyone else was in the car or any other vehicles were involved. No arrests have been made.”
