Chance To Give Your Views On Local Planning Strategy

Deadline looms to air your opinion

Merton Council has begun the final phase of its consultation with residents and businesses, asking for their views on its draft 'Sites and Policies Development Plan'.

The plan details potential development sites in the borough - including some which could be used for schooling as well as a scheme for AFC Wimbledon to return to its home town.

Anyone wishing to contribute to shaping the final version has until February 27 to send their response to the council.

The document consists of a comprehensive list of potential development sites as part of the council's plans to strengthen the borough's long-term prosperity and financial resilience.

It draft includes proposed areas of land and possible uses from the council, other public sector organisations including the NHS, the London Fire Brigade and Transport for London, as well as private businesses and landlords.

Merton Council cabinet member for environmental sustainability and regeneration Councillor Andrew Judge said: "We have made amendments to the document reflecting some of the comments people have made in earlier consultations, and this is the last opportunity people will have to comment on its contents before we finalise the document in readiness for full council and the Secretary of State.

"We have an exciting long-term vision for regeneration that will make Merton one of the most desirable places to live, to work, to shop, to invest in new business, or just to visit.  We are committed to preserving the valued character of current buildings alongside a determination to achieve the very best homes, shops, offices and facilities."
