"Hello SW19 Possums", Says Dame Edna

Aussie superstar will be in Wimbledon panto

Dame Edna Everage will be the next big panto star to appear in Wimbledon when she stars as the Saviour of London in Dick Whittington.

The New Wimbledon Theatre has just announced that Dame Edna will be appearing in their annual panto, which this year runs from December 9-January 15.

The legendary Australian Dame (right) is played by 77-year-old Barrie Humphries.

Dame Edna said: "Being a stranger to pantomime, I am looking forward to all the fun and frolics and meeting all of you lovely little possums in London".

Last year David Hasselhoff appeared in the theatre's production of Peter Pan and in 2009-10, Pamela Anderson starred in Aladdin.

Dame Edna will be joined by TV stars Sam Attwater, Anna Williamson and Eric Potts.

Sam is best-known for his role as Leon Small in Eastenders and and its subsequent spin-off Eastenders: E20.

He has appeared in the musical Tonight’s the Night in the West End and was a contestant on the sixth series of ITV's Dancing on Ice. Sam was crowned the show's winner before embarking on the Dancing on Ice live arena tour alongside Torvill and Dean.

Anna Williamson now regularly presents on Nickelodean and Daybreak, while Eric Potts, who will play the panto dame, is best known for his role as Diggory Compton in Coronation Street.
