Night Tube Services Set To Start On The Northern Line

Night Tube services will begin running on the Northern Line – including South Wimbledon and Colliers Wood - on November 18 after they opened on the Jubilee Line last week.

London May Sadiz Khan also said that the Night Tube has been a success, with nearly 750,000 journeys made on the Central and Victoria lines since services begin in August.

The Night Tube has cut journeys by between 20 and 60 minutes and is expected to boost London’s economy by £77m a year and support around 2,000 permanent jobs.

Sadiq Khan said: “There was a real buzz from when we launched the first Night Tube services in August, and I am delighted that the Jubilee Line services are now up and running.

“Hundreds of thousands of Londoners have already benefited, and it’s great news that so many more will now be able to enjoy our world-class cultural venues on the South Bank, as well as venues such as The O2 and Wembley Stadium, without needing to make that late dash for the last Tube. Being from Tooting, I’m also really looking forward to the start of services on the Northern Line next month.”

Local London Assembly Members, Leonie Cooper AM, said: “It’s fantastic that the Night Tube is coming to the Northern Line. London’s night life has so much to offer and it’s only right people in Merton should get to make the best of it.

“The safety of people using the Night Tube has to take precedence and I’ll be monitoring that closely to ensure any problems are addressed. This is an exciting new service, which will bring many benefits to our community, and we want to make sure it’s used safely and enjoyed by all.”

Mark Wild, London Underground’s managing director, said introducing the Night Tube on the Northern Line next month “will be another step forward for London, opening up new opportunities for Tube customers to enjoy even more of what London has to offer”.

Night Tube services on the Jubilee Line will run an average of every 10 minutes across the entire line from Stanmore to Stratford on Friday and Saturday nights. Northern Line services will run every eight minutes on average between Morden and Camden Town and approximately every 15 minutes from Camden Town to High Barnet/Edgware.

The mayor’s office said Night Tube services on the Piccadilly Line will be introduced “later this year once the new drivers complete their training.
