Are You A Budding Entrepreneur?

Events in Wimbledon as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week

Budding businesspeople and anyone who has launched a new company are invited to attend a free event in Wimbledon to mark Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The event at The Atrium, Lombard Business Park, Lombard Road, will be hosted by national business provider, Bizspace, in partnership with business relocation specialists, Andrew Porter Limited.

On Friday November 16 from 12.30pm to 2pm, there will be the chance to listen to the story and ask questions of a successful entrepreneur, as well as getting advice on finding and fitting out the ideal business premises and gathering information on a range of other aspects of business.

Grant Sivell, who will be speaking at the event, founded Bespoke Productions three months ago together with business partner Michael Negrao, and already the company is surpassing its targets.

The audio visual hire firm, based at Bizspace's Wimbledon centre, counts the Ritz Hotel and exclusive London members' clubs among its clients, and has provided equipment for events for the French President and DJ Fatboy Slim.

Grant said: "The company has just gone 'boom!' and we are already hiring new staff to keep up with demand. We already had contacts in the industry, so we knew we would have some initial business to rely on, but the success has exceeded our expectations. Our name has got out very quickly in the audio visual world and it is a fantastic situation to be in."

He will be speaking about the decision to set up a new company and giving advice on the benefits and pitfalls involved. He will also be taking questions on any aspects of starting or running a business.

Bizspace's sales and marketing director, Emma Long, said she hoped to see plenty of big business names of the future attend the event.

"Both Bizspace and Andrew Porter Limited are passionate about helping new businesses succeed and between us we have some fantastic offers available to help start-up companies get on their feet," she said.

"This event is a fantastic opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to ask questions of someone who has been there and done that – a chance which doesn’t come along every day. Anyone is welcome, whether they have launched a new business or are just thinking about doing so."

Entry is free, but places are limited so you need to register in advance to confirm attendance. To book visit bizspacewimbledon.eventbrite.co.uk.

Merton Chamber of Commerce is also running a Tax, NI and VAT workshop on Thursday November 15, as part of the special week.

Charlene Beard, Business Information Officer at Merton Chamber of Commerce said: "As the borough based Chamber of Commerce, we were very excited about Global Entrepreneurship Week. On November 15 we are running a Tax, NI and VAT workshop for anyone who is thinking of starting a business but not sure what their responsibilities for Tax, NI or VAT are.

"The workshop will be presented by experts from HMRC's Business Education and Support Team and will look at the different ways of trading and the different Tax and NI implications for small businesses. We will also be offering attendees a 'drop in surgery' for those seeking further advice on registering with the revenue."
