The Friends of Cannizaro Park is hosting an open call for local artists to join Art in the Park, a new event in Wimbledon’s Grade II listed park, taking place on 19 September.

Creatives from across the local area are invited to showcase their work - whether it’s painting, ceramic, photography, sculpture or illustration - by taking a space at the art fair section of the event.

The art fair will be held outdoors in the park’s picturesque and popular Italian Gardens.

Held in partnership with The Merton Arts Festival and in collaboration with Wimbledon Bookfest and the park’s ACAVA Studio artists, Art in the Park aims to turn Cannizaro Park into a must-visit arts destination.

Alongside the arts fair there is a programme of masterclasses, workshops, talks, and open-air paint-alongs. Visitors can expect a sculpture trail through the woods, a series of expert-led masterclasses ranging from Japanese woodblock printing to tree drawing, as well as a family arts trail. Aimed at art lovers, amateur enthusiasts, budding artists and families alike, Art in the Park is a full day of creativity for the whole community to enjoy.

“Art in the Park has been created by local artists for local artists”, explains Catherine Nelson, Chair of The Friends of Cannizaro Park. “Our dedicated team of volunteers has experience across the areas of painting, printing and graphic design, and are fuelled by a passion for art and a love of our historical Wimbledon park. We look forward to welcoming local creatives to showcase their work to the community at our inaugural event.”

Art in the Park takes place on 19 September. Local creatives are invited to apply by Sunday 27 June. Further details about Art in the Park can be found here.
