'Pattern Recognition' event at Wimbledon Library
An experimental concert and children’s music workshop will be some of the first events held in the newly developed Merton Arts Space at Wimbledon Library.
Pattern Recognition will feature Danish saxophonist Julie Kjaer and master drummer Steve Noble.
There will also be a rare performance from the Richard Dawson and Rhodri Davies collaboration, Hen Ogledd, as well as a multi-media experience from artist Sally Golding who will be using 16mm film projectors alongside electronics.
The concert will be held at Merton Arts Space in Wimbledon Library on October 22 at 8pm. Earlier that day, at 11am, a workshop about listening to and making experimental music will be held for children aged between six and 12 in Merton Arts Space by Future Music.
Merton Council’s Cabinet Member for Community and Culture, Councillor Nick Draper said: “Pattern Recognition is a unique interactive performance, combining rhythm and melody with film. This is a rare opportunity for one of the first audiences in our amazing new Merton Arts Space to see and hear these inspirational performers. As well as the concert, children will be able to experiment with creating their own original sounds in a music workshop.”
