Man hit by Waterloo-bound train

A man who died after being hit by a train at Wimbledon station has been named as Zane Phillips, aged 41.

Police were called at 10.06pm on Saturday February 22 to reports that someone had been hit by the Weymouth to London Waterloo service.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said: "I can confirm that the man who was struck by a train at Wimbledon station on Saturday, 22 February has been named as Zane Phillips (41), from Wimbledon.

"The incident was reported to BTP at 10.06pm, and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

"A file is being prepared for the coroner."

The line was handed back to Network Rail at 11.20pm.

But fatality caused delays to all train services until the end of the day, with some delays as long as 90 minutes.
