Meet The Dons And Net A Prize

Test yourself on an Easter football quiz

Youngsters can show their support for AFC Wimbledon by meeting the Dons and entering a football quiz at Centre Court shopping centre.

Manager Terry Brown and members of the first team squad will be visiting the centre during the Easter holidays to meet, chat and sign autographs for young fans, along with team mascot Haydon the Womble, from 2pm to 4pm on Monday April 2.

The club is also hosting two football-themed quizzes for youngsters on Thursday April 5, when everyone entering will be given a free ticket to go and see their sporting heroes play at the Cherry Red Records stadium.

The identity of the quiz master is being kept under wraps, but is expected to be someone very close to the club. They will host the competition for 6-10-year-olds from 1pm, and then 11-14-year-olds from 2pm.

Entry is free, with some great prizes on offer, besides the free tickets, but all places must be booked in advance as room will be limited.

Keith McGuinness, AFC Wimbledon's commercial manager, said it is really important for the club to have this kind of close connection with the local community.

"This is not only a great opportunity for younger fans to get to know the players but it will also help promote the club at the heart of Wimbledon, so we would like to encourage as many junior Dons fans as possible to come down in their club colours," he said. "These young fans are the future of our club.

"Then we plan to put their knowledge to the test on Thursday with our football quiz – there will be some questions about the Dons in there, and some more general footy ones, to see if you know your sport. There's going to be a very special quizmaster on the day, who I can't say too much about at the moment, so make sure you've got your place booked."

Samantha Brown, marketing manager of Centre Court, said the centre is delighted to be playing host to the Dons, and showing their support for the local team.

"AFC Wimbledon is a great family club, and we're thrilled that they are going to be involved in these events at the centre. It's really inspiring for young fans to be able to meet their heroes, and we’re looking forward to seeing a sea of blue shirts here on both occasions," she said.

Anyone wishing for their child to take part in the football quiz needs to email commercial@afcwimbledon.co.uk to confirm their entry, including the child's age.
