Two Wimbledon teens face court

Four people - including two Wimbledon teenagers - have been charged after a tram stop attack which left a man with serious head injuries.

A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old from Wimbledon, were charged along with a 17-year-old from Morden and Lee Bridger, 18, of Campden Road, Croydon.

The alleged attack took place at East Croydon tram stop at 1.05am on Saturday August 4.

A group of youths were reported to have attacked the 32-year-old victim, from Norbury, after he refused to give one of them a lighter.

The man, who had just left a tram with his mother and girlfriend, was then set upon by the group, leaving him unconscious for a short period.

The victim received what were initially described as life-threatening injuries, including bleeding to the brain and a fractured eye socket.

All four people charged will appear at Croydon Youth Court on Monday (September 10).
