Free Christmas Weekend Parking In Wimbledon And Beyond

Aim to encourage people to spend at local businesses

Free weekend parking will be available to shoppers in Merton this Christmas in a bid to encourage people to spend their money at local businesses.

For the fifth year running, there will be free parking at all council-managed car parks* throughout Merton for four weekends leading up to Christmas, which includes Christmas Eve.

Free parking will save the average Wimbledon shopper £6 for a four-hour shop on the free parking days.

Leader of the council, Councillor Stephen Alambritis said: “Times are still tough for many people in Merton and at this time of year many of us could use a few extra pounds to spend on Christmas. We always work to make parking in Merton fair and affordable and hope that enabling people to park for free in council car parks will mean more people will spend their money locally.”

In 2017 parking will be free in council-managed car parks in Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon on the following weekends:

  • 2-3 December
  • 9-10 December
  • 16-17 December
  • 23-24 December

*Not available at Coombe Lane car Park, Raynes Park.
