Local Housing And Training Provider In Merger

Organisation will be one of London's biggest provider of homeless accommodation

South Wimbledon-based Grenfell Housing and Training is to merge with Evolve Housing + Support to become the third largest provider of accommodation for the homeless in London.

The newly merged organisation will be called Evolve Housing + Support, but the Grenfall office in near South Wimbledon tube in Kingston Road will still be operational. All of Grenfall’s staff will also be transferring to the new organisation.

The formal transition takes place on April 1, with full integration planned for this summer. The new combined turnover will be £12.45m and it will work in eight local authorities, including Merton.

In a joint statement about the merger, Diana Coman, Chair of Grenfell, and Karen Cooper, Chair of Croydon-based Evolve, said: “The starting point for our future vision is our shared view that all our service delivery and development should focus on the people we support - placing them firmly at the heart of all our work.

“This, along with our shared values, gives us confidence that there is good synergy between our two organisations. By joining together, our new organisation will be able to achieve even better outcomes for many more people.  We will:

›    Support around 2,000 people each year towards independence;

›    Provide more local community services including support into work and learning, counselling and mentoring; and

›    Build more new, affordable homes for homeless people.

“We are delighted to bring our organisations together; this will be of real benefit to the people we support and our combined financial strength will enable us to continue to make a lasting difference to lives and communities.”
