Police Hunt Morden Park Sex Attacker

Officers make second arrest

Police investigating a series of sex attacks on women in the Morden Park area have arrested a teenager.

The 17-year-old was arrested in Morden Park on Monday and interviewed at a South London police station. He has since been released on bail, pending further inquiries.

Detectives are following up reports of five offences of indecent assault at different times of the day from November 22-29 in the Park and the surrounding area.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s with short, dark-coloured hair, and of a slim and average build.

He has approached women and indecently assaulted them. On some occasions he has also indecently exposed himself.

A police operation is underway that includes both uniform and plain clothes patrols supported by local Safer Neighbourhood teams.

A 22-year-old man arrested earlier in connection with the investigation has been eliminated from inquiries. But he remains in custody in connection with unrelated matters.

Detective Inspector David Cox, leading the investigation, said: "I'd like to thank everyone who has contacted us and given information, every little piece helps. "

You can contact police in confidence via your local Safer Neighbourhood teams, the non emergency number 101, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
