Police release image after Wimbledon phone theft

Police investigating a theft from the Vodafone shop in Wimbledon have released CCTV footage of a man they wish to identify and speak to in connection with the incident.

On Sunday, April 24, police were called at around 2pm to a report of a burglary at Vodafone on The Broadway.

The burglary was reported to have occurred between 1pm and 1.50pm on the same day. A mobile phone was stolen.

CCTV captured the moment the suspect walked into the shop. Whilst the shop assistant was in the rear office area, the suspect reached over the counter and took the mobile phone before leaving the shop.

The suspect [ref: 211418] is described as a black man, aged in his 20s, with a black moustache. He was wearing a grey flat cap, a blue jacket over a chequered shirt, blue jeans and blue trainers with white soles.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the man (see right) or who witnessed the theft.
