Wimbledon Exercise Classes For People With Limited Mobility

Inclusive Lives sessions with former Ballet Principal

Exercise classes aimed at people with limited mobility are being offered at YMCA Wimbledon with Mary Goodhew, former Ballet Principal from the Royal Ballet School at White Lodge, Richmond Park.

Mary returns home to Wimbledon after many years working abroad. She is a keen promoter of using music and effective dance techniques to benefit the health and fitness of participants, who may have limited mobility.

She said: "The importance of keeping bodies moving throughout our lives has been well advertised in the media. Exercise is good for its health benefits physically, socially and emotionally.

"Our seated classes assist participants in staying safe whilst working in a physically active way, mindful of the range of mobility issues people encounter through illness, age, mobility issues or disability. Come and keep fit with us, meet new people and have fun!"

YMCA Wimbledon on The Broadway is launching two new 'Inclusive Lives' classes with Mary:

Inclusive Dance, Wednesdays 11am – 12 noon

Seated Dance, Wednesdays 12 noon – 1pm

Meal deals accompany both sessions so people can relax and get to know each other and add a social element to their physical activity.

These classes coincide with the launch of a new membership option at YMCA London South West for people living with a disability.

Project Coordinator Hayley Turner says: "We want to support all people to get active in the community with the Inclusive Lives Project, launching a new reduced membership is key to this. Annual membership will be just £199 and this will grant you unlimited access to our gyms."
