John Major To Make Pre-Bookfest Appearance

Former PM to re-visit Wimbledon

Former Prime Minister Sir John Major is among the big names appearing in Wimbledon as part of the Wimbledon Bookfest later this year.

He will actually be appearing as a pre-festival event at the Polka Theatre on The Broadway at 7pm on Saturday September 29.

Sir John, a former pupil of Rutlish School, will be talking about his new book 'My Old Man - A Personal History of Music Hall'.

The Wimbledon Bookfest, now in its sixth year, runs from October 6-14. It also includes appearances from fellow politicians, Jack Straw and Tom Watson.

There will also be music with John Suchet, Humphrey Burton and John Sessions as well as top authors including Rose Tremain, Kate Mosse, Dame Margaret Drabble, Penny Vincenzi and Shirley Conran.

Among the other speakers are Brian Moore, John Inverdale and Brian Sewell.
