New B&Q Store Is Open in South Wimbledon

A new B&Q store has opened its doors in South Wimbledon.

The new shop is on the former site of the Staples office supplies store on the Nelson Industrial Estate off Morden Road.

It will be a B&Q convenience store in the 13,000 sq. ft space.

It is open from 7am-8pm on Mondays to Fridays, until 7pm on Saturdays and from 10am-4pm on Sundays.

The plans did not receive any public objections and were given the green light by Merton Council on December 19.

As the warehouse was previously a shop, B&Q only needed to apply to the council for advertising consent for four new signs.

Conditions of the planning permission include that no advertisements can be used where it would cause danger to drivers and that illumination of signs can not exceed a certain limit.

Store manager Greg Gluchy said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming local residents to the store and helping them start and complete their home improvement projects.

“The store is compact, fresh and modern, giving customers access to all of our products through both our in-store ranges and next day click and collect service.”
