Recommendation goes to full council
The Cumulative Impact Zone (CIZ) covering Wimbledon town centre and Wimbledon Village, within which the council can refuse new alcohol licences, is set to be extended.
Merton Borough Council's Licensing Committee agreed to extend the existing CIZ in Wimbledon Village along the Ridgway from Sunnyside as far as the Swan Public House.
It will also include the forecourt and platform area at Wimbledon station as well as the commercial premises on Hartfield Crescent within the Wimbledon town centre CIZ.
Licensing Committee chairman, Councillor David Simpson, who proposed the changes, said: "These changes are based on the recent consultation with residents and clearly show that the Committee is backing the views of local residents. The decision now goes to a full meeting of Merton Council on April 6 before being implemented."
