Local MP Accepts Phone Hacking Damages

Texts accessed after phone theft in Colliers Wood

The MP for Mitcham and Morden has accepted "substantial damages" after her mobile phone was hacked by The Sun newspaper following its theft in Colliers Wood.

Siobhan McDonagh's phone was stolen from her car in 2010 and police later confirmed that text messages on her phone had been accessed.

She launched a legal action against the publishers of the Sun, News International, in 2012 for invasion of her privacy.

And on Monday (March 18), The Sun agreed to pay her "substantial damages" and legal costs following a further High Court hearing.
