Man In Critical Condition After Assault

Police in Merton are appealing for witnesses after a man, who is thought to have been involved in a row, was left with serious head injuries following an assault in Mitcham.

Officers were called by London Ambulance Service to Montrose Gardens, Mitcham, at 7.24pm on Saturday (June 14) after a man was found with head injuries.

Police who attended the scene and found a 26-year-old man lying in the road being treated. He was taken by London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

At this stage it is believed the man was involved in an altercation with one or more men in Montrose Gardens - the suspect or suspects then made off on foot in the direction of Western Road.

No arrests have been made, and police in Merton are investigating.
