Appeal For Witnesses After Pedestrian Dies In Road Crash

Accident took place near the Tandem Centre

Police are appealing for witnesses after pedestrian Philip Westnott died following a road accident in Colliers Wood.

The accident took place at 1.43pm on Saturday (June 27) when he was in collision with a car at the Merantun Way crossroads, near the Tandem shopping centre.

Met Police officers and London Ambulance Service attended.

Mr Westnott, from Cheam, but thought to be on his way to his parents in Christchurch Close, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car stopped at the scene, and the male driver was not arrested. Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating, but it is understood the driver lost control after having an epileptic fit at the wheel.
