Local man taken to hospital after incident

A man was taken to hospital after being hit by a train at Wimbledon Station.

The 37-year-old Wimbledon man was struck by a train on platform six at around 8.30pm on Tuesday (December 20).

He was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting, with what were thought to be "non life-threatening" injuries.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "BTP officers were called to Wimbledon rail station on Tuesday, 20 December following a report that a man had been struck by a train.

"London Ambulance Service paramedics also attended and the man was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting.

"He remains there currently and his condition is described as stable. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening."

He added that the incident was being treated as "non-suspicious".
