Councillor will run marathon in Palace shirt
Councillor Peter Walker, a Crystal Palace fan for more than 60 years, is running the London Marathon on Sunday (April 13) in his Palace shirt (see right).
The Merton Councillor, who lives in Wimbledon, is running in aid of Merton Mencap - a charity that works for those with learning disabilities in the borough of Merton.
He has never run a marathon before and at 68 his wife considers this attempt to be foolhardy. But he believes believes if he finishes, it will be a good omen for Palace's chances of staying in the Premier League.
He says he'd be grateful for any cheers as he runs especially through areas close to Millwall and Charlton's grounds.
Any donations for Mencap can be made by going to Peter's Mencap website: Peter Walker's fundraising page.
