Mary Portas To Visit Wimbledon Village Charity Shop

She aims to highlight the importance of volunteering

As part of a one-day tour, Mary Portas will be visiting the Wimbledon Village Living & Giving shop to meet with the local community and highlight the benefits of volunteering.

Mary will also talk about Save the Children’s life-saving work that the Living & Giving shops’ support and share her retail wisdom with both current and prospective volunteers.

Mary’s Living & Giving Shop for Save the Children is a premium charity retail concept launched in 2009 by Mary Portas and Save the Children. It’s where designer brands and the local community can donate their products, their skills and their time in order to raise vital funds for Save the Children.

The Wimbledon branch is at 38c High Street, and Mary will be there at 5pm on Wednesday (May 18).

She said: “It really is great to have the opportunity to talk with my Wimbledon Village volunteer team.  The prosperity of these shops relies on great volunteers and good quality donations; and we are very fortunate to have both, but of course would always welcome more.  If you have a few hours to spare and have been thinking about volunteering, why not pop by the shop on Wednesday as I will be talking about ways in which you can get involved, and how you personally can make a huge difference to a child’s life.”
