Local woman honoured by the Queen
Merton Park resident Dr Kanwaljit Kaur-Singh has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Dr Kaur-Singh (left), from Dorset Road, has been given the award for her services to education and inter-faith understanding.
She is chair of the British Sikh Education Council and was the first Sikh woman to become a headteacher in England.
Dr Kaur-Singh has written many books on Sikhism, is an education inspector, conference speaker and consultant for publishers and national bodies.
